The beaches lining the coast of Roquetas de Mar total a little over fifteen kilometres in length, and are divided into nine following sections: Cerrillos (2600 m), Playa Serena (1780 m), La Urbanizaci\u00f3n (1980 m), La Bajadilla (1520 m), La Romanilla (1310 m), Las Salinas (1330 m), Los Bajos (1810 m), La Ventilla (1100 m) and Aguadulce (1900 m). In addition, there are two marinas and a fishing port.<\/p>\n
Not only can you enjoy leisure activities on the beach, water sports, the placidity of the breakwater, but Roquetas\u2019 coastline also offers an extraordinary vantage point for bird watching, and not only sea birds, but also those en-route between the various wetlands wich use the beaches to feed or simply to rest. Thus, it is not uncommon to observe small flocks of sandpipers, especially tridactyls and stonecroppers, and even the sea itself is a good place to see migratory flocks of teal migrating.<\/p>\n
Not only are the classic and usual gulls are the protagonists here, but also other more or less rare sea birds such as Atlantic gannets, common gulls, Mediterranean shearwaters, and the occasional Atlantic puffin can be seen. There are others which live on land but feed in the sea, such as the so-called “sea swallows”, terns and little terns that surprise summer bathers as they plunge into the sea.<\/p>\n
Marinas and ports do not only provide shelter for boats, but also for many fish, some forming small shoals, to the delight of fishing birds, who use the boats as observation platforms to feed<\/p>\n
